In this world, nature is treated as a community, not a commodity, and the food is healthy for people as well as for the environment. From the Pacific Ocean to the desert regions of southernmost California, the local EarthSave chapter here in San Diego is committed to make this world a reality. In 1987, John Robbins published a book entitled Diet for a New America which revealed the connections between personal food choices and planetary health. This book inspired the formation of EarthSave, a non-profit organization that has educated, inspired, and empowered thousands of people to shift toward a plant-based diet. EarthSave - San Diego Chapter (ESSD) is a local affiliate of EarthSave International, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes food choices that are healthy for people and for the planet. Our members educate, inspire, and empower others to shift towards a plant-based diet and to take compassionate action for all life here on Earth. The San Diego Chapter is dedicated to uphold EarthSave International's mission in the community through compassionate education centered on strategic nonviolence. Our chapter goal is to organize and empower a movement of people who are transitioning or have transitioned to a simpler, life-sustaining diet and lifestyle and to educate and inspire others to follow the lead. Our message is very simple - what we choose to eat is delicately connected to the human health, environmental well-being, and the animal rights issues we currently face in our world. Our chapter is proud to provide monthly social support events, exciting educational outreach and advocacy efforts, important awareness campaigns about our food choices, and meaningful veg-community building events throughout the area to support community awareness and individual dietary transition.
